Church of Christ
Carman Church of Christ
This fundamentalist church arrived in the Boyne area with early settlers from southeastern Ontario. A congregation formed east of Carman in 1889, meeting in homes and in a hall. In 1891 two lots were given to build a church meeting house on 2nd St. SW. The congregation continued to meet there until in 1945 when the property was sold and the Church of Christ purchased the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
The church also established Bible Colleges in Carman. The first was in what became the Land Titles Office. The second Bible College, Carman Bible and Business College, operated from 1920–25 and combined Bible study with commercial training. Classes were held first in church meeting hall, then a new building was built North Railway (Centre Ave, W) and DeMill Ave. (3rd. St NW). Lack of teachers forced closure in 1925. The Church of Christ is now located on Hwy #3 South.
