Carman Boys' Industrial School

A reform school for wayward boys operated during the 1940s northwest of the Town of Carman near the site of the present-day cement plant. The school was moved here from Portage la Prairie during WWII when the Portage site became an air base.

Boys from the facility worked for local farmers. A school operated on the site. After closure, one of the buildings was moved to 2nd Ave. SE where it served first as a Lutheran Church, then as a Baptist Church.

Any further information or photos of the facility would be welcome.
