Latham General Store, Homewood
The old Latham General Store, in the Homewood area, is a rare surviving example recalling the modest commercial establishments that once would have served farm families throughout the RM of Dufferin. This example is of a later generation—constructed in 1956—but its small size and interesting architectural character—a low-slung false-fronted composition—are reminders of how storekeepers like Jack Latham sought to attract attention, and customers.
The old store was closed several years ago and has been converted into a house.
